Mozambique’s Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy Announces FAGENA 2025

The Ministry of Mineral Resources and Energy of Mozambique (MIREME) is pleased to invite all stakeholders, professionals, students, and partners in the extractive industry to participate in FAGENA 2025 — the Geology, Mining and Energy Fair.

The event will take place from October 23 to 25, 2025, starting at 08:30 AM, at the Hotel Milénio, in the City of Nampula. FAGENA 2025 aims to promote sustainable mining practices and foster Mozambique’s socio-economic growth through innovation, knowledge sharing, and strategic partnerships.

This year’s theme, “FAGENA, for sustainable mining and the promotion of Mozambique’s socio-economic development,” highlights the government’s commitment to responsible resource management and long-term national progress.

Throughout the three-day fair, participants will engage in a dynamic program featuring exhibitions, thematic panels, technical discussions, and networking sessions, gathering representatives from government institutions, private companies, academia, and civil society.

1st Geoscience Fair of NEEGM – ISCTE

The 1st Geoscience Fair 2025 took place on October 8th at ISCTEM, organized by the Student Association of Geological and Mining Engineering (NEEGM). The event brought together students, lecturers, and geoscience enthusiasts in an environment of knowledge sharing and innovation.

Under the theme “From Students to Students, Promoting Geosciences,” the fair aimed to encourage the exchange of experiences and strengthen interest in Earth sciences. Throughout the event, participants showcased mining models, scientific posters, mineral exhibits, and thematic presentations, reflecting the students’ talent and dedication.

A highlight of the fair was the competition of the top three models, featuring representatives from each academic year. The initiative celebrated creativity, teamwork, and scientific spirit, reinforcing NEEGM’s mission to promote practical and collaborative learning.

The 1st Geoscience Fair 2025 marked an important milestone in advancing geoscience awareness at ISCTEM, empowering students as active contributors to the growth and dissemination of geological knowledge in Mozambique.

The First National Geosciences & Climate Change Forum – Inhambane, Mozambique

The First National Geosciences and Climate Change Forum took place in Maxixe, Inhambane, on July 24–25, 2024, organized by the Geological and Mining Association of Mozambique (AGMM) in partnership with the National Institute for Disaster Management and Risk Reduction (INGD).

This landmark event brought together experts, researchers, and students to reflect and engage in dialogue on the vital role of Geosciences in the Extractive Industry, the challenges of climate change, and the path toward a sustainable energy transition.

Participants explored Mozambique’s journey in the mining and petroleum sectors, showcasing how geological sciences have contributed to economic growth while emphasizing the importance of environmental preservation and responsible resource management.
